Walk in the Rainforest

January is here and before we know it February will appear its head from behind the bushes. Here on the Blackall Ranges there are many excellent and beautiful forest walks. Recently, Bill, Roger a friend and I drove to the Baroon Pocket Dam near Secrets on the Lakes in Montville. It had rained hard the night before so the ground was fresh with slip and slide.

Our walk in the rainforest was splendid, invigorating and welcomed. It is part of the Great Walks trek to the Kondallila Falls.

We viewed the Obi Obi Creek and gushing waterfalls. Spotted the forest Oaks and tangled vines, gum trees and black cockatoos high in the tree tops. Always magical. Enticing. Wondrous.

At the Narrows Lookout we gazed at the misty clouds that filled the valley.

Rainforest beauty is all around us filling our souls with peace. Bark so colourful. Trees tall and present. Ferns delicate and green. canopies supreme. Large trees uprooted and fallen. Giants weeping along the track.

Take time in 2021 to recharge. Visit the layers of the forest to listen to the chorus of birds, cross bridges, smell the damp, cool air and step across rocks and branches. A positive and natural cleansing. Until next time, take care, Marg.
